casualty, the JCG may kindly requests the JASREP reporting vessels in the
vicinity to assist the situation.

Rescue of a
Timber Carrier
@The JCG received
a distress call of a foreign Timber Carrier heading for China
west side off Okinawa. The JASREP participating Container
Ship in the vicinity, of St. John's registry, TS Nagoya has been requested by the
Japan Coast Guard to proceed to rescue the 24 crew members evacuated by
timber carrier's own rescue boat. 22 crew have
been retrieved by TS Nagoya, while the other two have been
retrieved by a rescue helicopter belonging to the Japanese Maritime Self-Defence Force.

Rescued Adventure Baloonr
@The JCG received
a distress call of a balloon with 2 people on board landed at sea some
800 N/M away from Japan.
The JCG immediately dispatched its aerial and surface assets and at the
same time requested the Japanese Maritime Self-Defence Force and a JASREP
participating Panamanian vessel in the vicinity to come to rescue the 2
people. The JASREP vessel, en route from Shiogama, Japan
to Los Angels, USA, immediately turned and
set course to the scene and rescued the 2 in distress. The vessel was
presented with the JCG Commandantfs Award.

Rescue of a
Sailing Yacht LOUISE
@Sailing Yacht LOUISE with
3 crew on board was heading for Chichi Jima. Her mast was
destroyed and became uncontrolable because of
the gale wind some 230 N/M away from Japan.
The JASREP participating vessel of
the Singaporean flag in the vicinity "KN TRADER", in response
to the JCG's request to proceed, immediately
turned and set course to the scene and participated in the rescue of the
yacht in co-operation with a JCG patrol vessel. The vessel was presented
with an Award from the Commander of the 5th RCG Headquarters.
