Bisan Seto Vessel Traffic ServiceCenter had confirmed a name of the ship through AIS information and providedthem with the proper information, but there was no response received. Then, arisk of collision between the ship in question and a westbound vessel sailing inthe Bisan Seto North Traffic Route arose. The center had provided both of thevessels and vessels in the area with the proper information and prevented anaccident. However, the ship still kept sailing without changing tack and created a risk ofgoing aground. The center requested nearby vessels to switch on theirsearchlights to call the ship’s attention. Around 21:09, the ship had reduced itsspeed noticing a searchlight radiating from a westbound vessel and altered itscourse to the left. It safely returned to South Route around 21:26. An accidentwas prevented. An operator of the ship had lost its course and, without understanding English, didn’t realize where he was until a searchlight was shown upon the ship.①Cargo ShipBisan Seto South Traffic RouteHonShimaHiro ShimaMarugameCityTakami ShimaBisan Seto North Traffic Route②Westbound Vessel204921262105 21092105SanagiShimaTypes of PreventedAccidents :Target Vessel :Date :Sea Area :Summary :Track Chart
