The Coast Guard Global Summit 3rd Working Level Meeting ~First co-chairing by Japan and Italy~

The Coast Guard Global Summit (CGGS) 3rd Working Level Meeting was held online on October 23 and 24. The purpose of this meeting was to prepare for the 4th CGGS to be held next September by setting the agendas and confirming the progress of each project. The meeting was hosted by the Italian Coast Guard, and co-chaired by Mr. NAKAGAWA Tetsuhiro, Director, International Strategy Division of the Japan Coast Guard and by Captain Giulio PIRODDI, Head of International Affairs Office of the Italian Coast Guard. Approximately 70 Coast Guards and relevant organizations participated in this meeting.

3 Summary of results
(1) The 4th CGGS in 2025 and Agendas
The Italian Coast Guard announced that the 4th CGGS will be held in Rome, Italy, on September 11 and 12, 2025.
The participants supported the following agendas for the 4th CGGS.
- Health of the ocean and climate change
- Artificial intelligence and maritime domain awareness
- No carbon fuel units
- Law enforcement

(2) Information Sharing Method
The Japan Coast Guard explained the updates to the CGGS website and established the foundation for further activation of that website.

(3) Meeting Guidelines for the Future Host
The participants reviewed the meeting guideline. The host of the 5th CGGS will be officially decided at the 4th CGGS.

(4) Coast Guard Human Resources DevelopmentThe Japan Coast Guard explained about the "Three-year Plan" for the Online Program, and the plan was supported by the participants.
