SAPPHIRE24 JCG and USCG officers Exchanged views on Search and Rescue operations ~Promoting JCG and USCG cooperation to realize the FOIP ~
On June 14, 2024, The Japan Coast Guard(JCG)officers exchanged views on Search and Rescue operations with the U.S. Coast Guard(USCG)officers at the 11th Regional Coast Guard Headquarters as part of the"SAPPHIRE", joint efforts by JCG and USCG.
1 In order to promote mutual understanding and cooperation betweenthe JCG and the USCG, the JCG officers exchanged views on Search and Rescue operations with the USCG officers.
2 The USCG officers also paid a courtesy call on the Commander of 11th Regional Coast Guard Headquarters, conducted facility tours at the 11th Regional CG HQs.
3 The JCG will continue to strengthen its cooperation with USCG to realize the "Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP) " based on the rule of law as part of the "SAPPHIRE"*, which symbolizes the cooperation between the JCG and the USCG.
* The JCG and the USCG joint efforts are referred to as "SAPPHIRE", and those to be implemented in 2024 are described as "SAPPHIRE 24".
